Retaining Walls on Steeply Sloped Yard
When we first met with this homeowner he had recently purchased the property. The side yard was very steeply sloped where the septic system is located. The previous owners had attempted to landscape the area, but at that point most of the mulch had washed down the hill and the landscape fabric was showing. The photo on the left shows what the site looked like before we started.
We designed and installed a plan for this property that utilized a series of retaining walls. The walls served to retain the soil and reduce the angle of the slope. They also served to visually break up the area into a series of terraces which were more pleasing to the eye and provided more useable space at the base of the slope.
The gardens were planted with various trees, shrubs, perrenials, and daylillies (190 plants in all). There is a variety of colors and blooming times used so that, throughout the year, there is always some thing to look at.
