New Front Porch and Deck on Log Cabin Home
The homeowners initially approached Hartley Bros. to build a deck. After the deck was built, the owners decided to have the deck expanded and tied into a new front porch. The porch was constructed using Pressure Treated Wood and the frame built using 2 x 6 and 2 x 10 inch ledger boards. The sub-structure is supported by 2 x 10 inch beams. Details were made for the roof shingles to match in color to the existing roof of the home and the railings to match the deck. Construction of the porch and deck were built to code, obtaining the necessary building permits. Crushed stone was also installed beneath the new porch and stepping stones installed in the walkway to the garage door next to the deck. After the porch was installed, lattice was added around the base of the deck and porch. A small pine tree was added to the front of the deck for character.
