The hosts of Indoors Out on the DIY Network, Dean Marsico and Derek Stearns, filmed the Hartley Bros. construction of an Outdoor Cigar Room during May 13-17, 2008.
On this particular project, the homeowner requested an Outdoor Cigar Room as a birthday surprise for her husband. Our crews began the project by removing the existing deck and pouring some of the footings prior to filming. The multi-level flooring made from composite deck material was designed for a cocktail area and lounging area for the enjoyment of cigar aficionados. Timbertech RadianceRail System in black finish gives the upper cigar level a richness to the open room. Decorative furnishings that enhance the area include a hand crafted mantle made from an old barn beam, lighting, mirror, an outdoor Aztec print rug and lounging furniture. An antique rustic cabinet served a dual purpose to display high end cognac distinctive liquor bottles and humidor storage of cigars. American Indian cigar artifacts and cigars for the set were donated by Pioneer Valley Especiales from Southwick, MA. Other tobacco decorations were donated by the Tobacco Farm Life Museum in North Carolina and the Arnold families, owners of Pioneer Valley Especiales. Shiel Farms. Southampton, MA donated and designed the area with annual flowers. Landscaping and plantings surrounding the area were provided by Hartley Bros. Landscaping, Inc.
